Tenancy

2DRJ welcomes applications for tenancy at all levels of call from candidates who practice in our core specialist areas.

All applications will be dealt with confidentially.

What to expect from tenancy at 2DRJ

2DRJ is a friendly, approachable and supportive set for all its members.

2DRJ focuses predominantly on the areas of Criminal and Family law, in addition we have expertise in regulatory, education, immigration and animal welfare law.

Many members of chambers have a mixed practice, whilst others specialise in one area of law.

Chambers is supported by an experienced and dedicated clerking team. Our director of clerking has over 40 years of experience. Our clerks are welcoming and approachable and members of chambers are encouraged to work with the clerks to build a practice that works for them. Members of chambers have formal practice management review meetings twice a year with a dedicated clerk.

Chambers has a voluntary mentoring scheme, which is particularly designed for junior members of the Bar. The mentoring scheme involves a more senior member of chambers being allocated to meet with their mentee at least 4 times over the course of the year and to offer advice, answer questions and provide support around practice management.

Members of chambers are also encouraged to seek help and support when they need it, and chambers has practice area WhatsApp groups to facilitate those conversations.

Chambers has a dedicated wellbeing officer, Kristina Hopper, and matters relating to wellbeing of barristers and clerks are regularly discussed by the Equality, Wellbeing and Diversity Committee.

Chambers’ expenses (including rent) are levied as a percentage of fees received and no fixed rent is payable. There is a reduced percentage for junior tenants of under 3 years and tenants on paternity and maternity leave.
