Since joining Chambers in 2007, Eve has been instructed in Criminal, Family and Immigration cases.
Eve’s practice is predominately in general crime and fraud. Eve appears before the Crown Court on a daily basis conducting a wide range of criminal hearings. She regularly defends serious violent offences, drug offences, sexual offences, and public order offences. Eve is committed to representing clients from early hearings through to sentence/acquittal as much as possible.
Eve also represents clients in confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
Eve regularly prosecutes benefit fraud and appears on behalf of the Welfare, Rural and Health Prosecutions Division. She is a Grade 1 Advocate for the Crown Prosecution Service.
Whilst Eve’s main practice is in criminal law, Eve also accepts instructions in Children Act matters. She has represented mothers, fathers, grandparents and local authorities in private residence and contact disputes.
R v W and others – Defended offences of racially aggravated violent disorder.
R v M and others – Led junior counsel defending charges of conspiracy to kidnap, possession of firearms and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. The jury were hung and the Crown did not proceed to a retrial.
R v Bray (Lawrence Keith)  EWCA Crim 1991 – The judge’s comments, when remanding the appellant in custody pending and adjournment for a pre-sentence report, had given rise to an expectation that an immediate custodial sentence would not be imposed. Appeal Allowed.
R v Messham (James Alexander)  EWCA Crim 2568 – Where the appellant had confessed his offence to the police, a further reduction in sentence should properly follow. Appeal allowed
