Biography
Amelia joined 2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings in October 2021 following the successful completion of her pupillage. Amelia predominantly practices criminal law and is regularly instructed by both the prosecution and defence. She appears the Crown, Magistrates’ and youth courts on a daily basis.
Amelia also undertakes regulatory work on behalf of Social Work England.
Prior to pupillage, Amelia worked for an anti-slavery charity which provides support to victims of human trafficking and campaigned for policy reform both in the U.K. and abroad. She has a special interest in cases involving the NRM.
Cases of Note
- R v DS, (2022) Secured an acquittal for a defendant accused of racially aggravated assault
- R v HM (2022) Secured a conviction in a case of ABH where defendant alleged excessive self-defence
- R v KD (2022) Successfully resisted a hearsay application in a case of alleged domestic assault, resulting in the Crown offering no evidence
- R v LD (2021) Secured an acquittal on two counts of domestic burglary
- R v WT, (2021) Secured a suspended sentence order where defendant pleaded guilty to PWITS Class A on the day of trial
- R v OR, (2021) Represented a youth, who was one of five defendants, charged with robbery
